Facilitating live exercises

Facilitator routes during a live exercise:

The facilitator view ("mission control")

The facilitate view is a three-column layout:

  • Brief panel (left) — scenario narrative, objectives, scope, rules, and the active phase's business context
  • Center — the current phase or inject: inject cards, release controls, and participant responses
  • Crew panel (right) — participants and roles with live presence

A phase timeline strip tracks progress across phases. The top bar shows the Live/Paused/Ended status, room code and password, the exercise timer, and a Temporary badge if the run uses data protection mode.

The Observations panel can pop out into its own window — put it on a second screen, or hand it to a co-facilitator on another device to take notes while you drive injects.

Inject workflow (per inject)

  1. Release — participants can see the inject
  2. Activate — becomes active prompt; participants respond
  3. Complete — clears active prompt; advance to next

Session controls

  • Pause / Resume — freezes timer
  • Complete phase — on last phase, ends exercise

Add during facilitation with categories:

  • Strength
  • Gap
  • Risk
  • Note
  • Recommendation

Can link to phase and inject. Appear in post-exercise report.

On phase view, attach communication templates to the current phase for reference during discussion.
